In this case from a painting to a 3d model through to a 2d composite
This article features two well known French artists Antoine Rigal and Sophie Herniou both painters and sculptors. Starting off with Antoine one of his paintings that you see featured below came to life!. I modelled the character in 3d then it was composited into a photo of Antoine at an art exhibition.
Sophie her sculpture on the theme of 'Transexuals', when I saw the sculpture on her website I was immediately inspired to model it in 3d. The fact that it has 3 eyes, legs etc makes it a modelling and rigging challenge. Once we have a 3d character model and it is rigged for animation we can do so much more. The little video below demonstrates this (it was just for fun and rendered in low resolution to show Sophie how it was possible to bring one of her sculpture to life through 3d).
